Solid elm slab table

Inspired by a friend's elm slab table, a client commissioned me to create a similar piece. A suitable slab was sourced from the same timber yard and entrusted to my care for preparation. After discussing the client's vision, I arranged for an adjustable height base to be delivered to my workshop for customisation to accommodate the slab.

The slab underwent a meticulous process involving flattening, sanding, and finishing with a hard-wax oil to enhance its natural beauty and durability. To reinforce the slab's integrity, I incorporated bow tie joinery to stabilise the cracks.
